Love and Life, an Epic Week

In the past week, I have journeyed from having my heart drained completely dry and fighting to keep my head above water, to a heart overwhelmed with the amount of love and strength in this world fighting for our future health and prosperity.

It has been a very emotional week, and I am grateful for every ounce of pain, for it came from an equal part of happiness. We are often forgetful of the rule of opposites, but in its remembrance, we may find ourselves appreciating more, the significance of this moment.

So how did I mend my broken heart?

Lets begin with an amazing support team of friends (thank you so much for your support Kat) and family… and yup, that includes a now ex who has always been a great friend, and always will be.  Spring has fully blossomed here in Vancouver, and the sun has been out full force which has kept my spirits warm while in lonely thought.

My friend Heather said to me, “now you are ready, and the universe has been waiting for you”.

How right she is.

I have been building relationships with some amazing people from En ation and affiliates, a group of truly inspirational entrepreneurs  dedicated to helping people work towards their potential, and developing leaders who will positivity fashion change… definitely my kind of people!

Epic Vancouver was truly Epic! Filled with passionate people seeking to make a difference in our future, and that energy my friends, is a beautiful thing.  Of course a good section of the floor was dedicated to the corporate sponsors… Toyota, TD, and Whole foods no name a few, but there was an exciting amount of young business’s being fueled by the ambitious hearts of entrepreneurs who are dedicated to changing the way we live and experience our world. So very exciting! There is lots to look forward to in our future, but it is up to us to pay attention, support our local business and communities, because in this my friends, is how we will positively fashion change.

Some favorites from the show include

-Mike, the wonderfully charming Realtor who does ALL his business in Vancouver on his peddle bike! Supporting both a green city and a healthy active lifestyle.

-The always important Sierra Club was there offering information that is usually left out from the news, and reminds us to make sure we take the time to understand whats happening, and say something! There is a reason why the Harper Government is trying to push through all these refurbished policies and policies, and it goes beyond stimulating the economy. Educate yourself here. Its your future, your environment, and your resources… and you have a say.

-Dogwood Initiative was there supporting the Spirt Bear Wilderness, learn more and find your voice here.

-If your looking to finally get yourself back into shape, or interested in joining a community of people who sincerely what to help you become more healthy, body and mind, talk to Jonathan of Vancouver’s Fit body bootcamp.

-Ohh, two of my favorites where the young and passionate Dylan and Sarah of The Green Challenge. Compassion fuels this one as the pair work towards providing work and support those who are facing their toughest realities in the lower east end of Vancouver. If you can support something really meaningful this summer, give a hand for a day, donate your unwanted house stuff, and take a moment to check out their website.  Big big heart here ladies and gents, they are the change indeed!

-Metro Vancouver was front and center sporting their composting initiative and offering wonderful advice and conversation. I am fortunate in that I was introduced to recycling and composting programs in Halifax 1996 initiative to rescue landfill wastes, and I must say, we might be a little behind on the green factor here in Vancouver, but we are flying along at a great pace. Amazing work! So important we remember that our waste doesn’t magically disappear. We are responsible to maintain our landfills… and currently Vancouver’s site has a lifespan of only another 30 years…. the next site might be in your back yard!

Finally we have from By Nature, who brilliantly install living works of art/plants into homes and business’s, creating an uplifted environment and a breath of fresh air. A must to check out their Wallflower designs!!

As Epic Vancouver and the enormous support from the people reminded me of what I was fighting for, it was this Sunday morning at a Breakfast meeting of great masterminds which finally put me back together again.

A woman of heart, worldly vision, love of life, intellect, compassion, and the list could go on for pages, has decided to enter politics. I was honored to be invited to her campaign meeting this morning and met a group of truly visionary, passionate people, to support a true leader (who’s name I will happily disclose when I write about her launch party!)

All I can say British Columbia, and Canada… with this woman leading the way, we will not have to give up hope.

Amazing things are happening. Be part of it.

An Epic week… a touch of so many emotions, I might some day share their details. For now, just know, from darkness there is light;  we all face struggle, how we face it makes all the difference.
